OpenAI recently launched an epoch-making innovation – “GPT Store”, a platform specifically designed for customized ChatGPT versions. Since the launch of GPTs, more than three million customized versions of ChatGPT have been created around the world. The GPT store is currently open to ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Enterprise users, gathering a diverse range of GPTs developed by OpenAI partners and communities, covering multiple categories including DALL·E, writing, research, programming, education, and lifestyle.
Among them, AllTrails provides personalized outdoor route recommendations based on user preferences, while Khan Academy's Code Tutor improves users' coding skills through interactive learning. In addition, GPT Store also includes diverse applications such as Consensus, a search and synthesis assistant for 2 million academic reports, Canva, a presentation or social website post design assistant, Books, a book recommendation expert, and CK12-Flexi, an AI tutor for mathematics and science.
OpenAI announced that it will launch a GPT builder income plan in the first quarter, allowing American developers to earn income based on how users use their GPTs. This initiative is designed to encourage creativity and innovation. In addition, OpenAI has launched a new ChatGPT Teams plan for team and enterprise customers, which provides access to a private section of the GPT store, including GPTs published securely to the workspace. For enterprise customers, GPT Store will provide enhanced administrative controls, allowing enterprises to choose how to share internal GPTs and decide which external GPTs can be used within their business.
GPT Store also allows users to view the most popular and popular chatbots through rankings and search by type. These customized chatbots are not yet profitable, but OpenAI stated that it will share details about how developers can make money from chatbots in the first quarter of this year.
In addition, OpenAI has launched a new paid option for small and medium-sized enterprises, ChatGPT Team, priced at US$30 per person per month (a full-year subscription is US$25 per person per month). ChatGPT Team provides shared work tools and allows teams to build their own GPT. According to OpenAI data, in terms of GPT Store, the builder community has created 300 million GPTs, and GPTs approved by the company can be downloaded in the GPT Store. The store will operate similarly to Apple's App Store, and OpenAI said GPT's revenue sharing plan will be announced "shortly."
The GPT Store also includes a new review system to ensure that GPTs created by paying users comply with brand guidelines and usage policies. OpenAI emphasizes that it does not require any programming skills to build GPTs and encourages users to build and share them. These measures aim to expand the service ecosystem and promote the development of a new wave of AI application economy.
